Thistleoaks is a childcare centre located in downtown Oakville (Kerr and Bond St) that supports community families with care for children from 6 weeks to 6 years old.
Thistleoaks educators develop and implement programs that draw from Reggio Emilia, How Does Learning Happen, and Emergent Learning philosophies to create engaging and developmentally rich programs. Located on a sizable property with large, natural outdoor playscapes, Thistleoaks works to bring the natural world indoors and programing outdoors. Thistleoaks is committed to diversity and accessibility across our children, families, and staff.
Full time 7.25 hours a day, 5 days a week
Competitive wage including additional region funding
Candidate Requirements
-
· A Registered Early Child Educator in good standing with the College of ECE or equivalent training or experience.

· Current Standard First Aid/CPR C certification

· Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screen dated within 6 months
-
· Immunization records for MMR, DTP, Polio and 1 step TB test
-
· Proof of Vaccination against Covid-19 and ability to comply with pandemic safety policies
-
· Able to work rotating shifts between the hours of 7:30 AM and 5:45 PM
-
· Able to work with any group children from 6 weeks to 6 years
-
· Able to lift weights up to 35 lbs.
Position Responsibilities
-
Building warm, welcoming, and genuine connections with children, families, and coworkers.
-
Drawing on knowledge of How Does Learning Happen (HDLH); Think, Feel, Act; and Early Learning for Every Child Today (ELECT) documents to implement daily programing that meets the needs of both the group and the individual children.

Setting up and organizing program spaces that meet the Quality First requirements, provide opportunities for developmentally appropriate inquiry basted play, and show an understanding of how the environments acts as a third teacher.

Building upon individual strengths and learning styles to provide opportunities for the development of social, emotional, cognitive, language, sensory and physical domains.

Being intentional with interactions to promote the view of the child as competent, capable of complex thinking, curious, and rich in potential.

Working in tandem with Families, Resource Consultants, Support Facilitators, and Teammates to support the inclusion and development of children of all abilities.

Observing children and using a variety of documentation techniques to record and expand on their growth and learning.

Maintaining room safety and cleanliness to promote the well-being of children and adults in program spaces.

Maintaining and appropriately displaying/submitting accurate daily records including but not limited to attendance, meal logging, accident reports, ill child reports, cleaning checklists, playground logs, and monthly inspections.

Attending staff meetings, professional development, and center development days outside of scheduled hours to support professional development and team cohesion.

Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor
