Thistleoaks Child Care Centre has been welcoming children and families since 1989. Today, we are one of the largest non-profit child care centres in Halton. We are leaders in care and education, and we are committed to enriching the lives of both the children and the families we serve. We are a fully inclusive child care centre, with a memorandum of understanding agreement with the region of Halton. We pride ourselves on our collaborative approach to guiding and caring for children, where families and educators work together to provide an optimal learning environment for children to reach their full potential.
Thistleoaks is nestled in the heart of Kerr Village and has proudly served the needs of the community and families for nearly 30 years. We love to take every advantage of our proximity to downtown; we empower the children and educators to become active citizens within our community.
And now, as our 30th anniversary is approaching, I am excited to see the impact that Thistleoaks has had not only on the children, the families, and the community, but also on myself. I started with the organization in 2003 and have enjoyed every moment of this journey. Personally, it all began with a practicum placement in the Toddler room. From there, it blossomed to include both valuable and memorable experiences in many programs, including School Age supervisor. Today, as the Executive Director, I am proud to represent an organization which consistently strives toward quality. Thistleoaks keeps a commitment to the children and families of the centre to invest, foster, and support the children as they explore, engage, and embody the values and philosophies of Ontario's framework for child care "How Does Learning Happen?", and truly making a difference in the lives of children. There is no better investment than this!
